Ancient Luxury

Pedicures and manicures have been a luxury treatment for thousands of years! In ancient China, around 3000 BCE, royalty and nobility used to color their nails with a reddish-brown dye made from beeswax, gelatin, and vegetable dyes. Similarly, in ancient Egypt, around 2500 BCE, pedicures and manicures were a status symbol, with only the wealthy and high-ranking officials able to afford such treatments.
